This Nature Center offers indoor and outdoor interpretive exhibits, cactus and succulent greenhouse, botanical gardens, hiking trails and a nature shop. Enjoy this intimate setting and experience the diversity of the desert region, including canyon springs, stately madrones, Montezuma Quail and other hidden treasures. Mon - Sat 9AM to 5PM
McDonald Observatory is one of the major astronomical research facilities in the world. The Visitors Center offers a unique astronomical experience, insight into the workings of this scientific facility and a variety of public programs. Open daily (except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years) 10AM to 5:30PM
FORT DAVIS NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE
This Fort is one of the best remaining examples of a restored frontier fort in the country. It includes a Visitors' Center, museum, gift shop, interpretive programs, picnic area and hiking trails. 8AM to 5PM daily (except certain holidays).
Davis Mountains State Park offers scenic mountains, superb bird-watching, beautiful trails, picnicking and the Black Bear Restaurant. The lodge was built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps and has original interiors and furnishings. Renovated in 1967, it is a wonderful example of Southwestern Native American architecture featureing a multilevel pueblo village-style with 18" adobe walls.



Skies permitting, guests may enjoy a special nighttime guided tour of some of the wonders of the universe with your host, astrophotographer Tom Harrison, from a state-of-the-art roof top observatory with a 12.5" RCOS Ritchey Chretien Truss Robotic Telescope.
